Magical experience....

2 juni 2019 - Cotonou, Benin

Hi friends I was not able to write as much as I wanted because of the packed program but here is one last log before we head back home tonight.

Yesterday we drove back from Nikki to Cotonou where we spent the night at the same AMCES lodge. The ride was crazy....maybe because our driver was in Karem aka Ramadan he was extremely aggressive on the wheel. Maybe "HANGER" was his driving force but we made it back 1.5 hours faster than we went up 2 weeks ago.

As I look back at our time spent here it went by super fast but I want this day to go by even faster I am looking forward to being reunited with my family and friends and yes I miss my coworkers too.

When we landed at the Cotonou airport on the 19th we had no idea what the journey would be like.

I can only speak for myself now but when I look back on all the things I've seen from the red African dirt to the beautiful warm and welcoming people. We were submerged in ancient traditions and customs. My ears heard sounds and tones in languages so foreign to me. Had fruits from the trees of the motherland so sweet and explosive in taste. Like eating a rainbow! I have made many friends who made the experience even more authentic. Seen the exuberance in a culture that is all transcending. Poverty in its rawest form covered in the richness of the fabrics worn that bring a nation to life.  I've witnessed christians and muslims living peacefully side by side. I have had ups and downs on the workfloor. My entire physical and emotional body have been shook. It was a magical ride ... Like falling in love for the very first time noticing everything good and bad, taking it all in and adoring every second of it all...that was my journey.

So long Benin...until we meet again
