After much delay...

So....after a 1.5 hour delay we finally got to board our flight. The line moved slowly but people were relaxed and there was an atmosphere of tranquility. We went through the process of putting away our belongings and settling in our seats. The Boeing is nice and comfortable as expected. Ding dong...first announcement: " Ladies and gentlemen after completing all technical checks the aircraft is ready for departure. We do have another notice: one of our cabin crew has fallen ill and will be replaced. The replacement will take 40 minutes to get here."

Sneaky crew didn't think I heard the flight attendant whisper on the phone "he will be here in 45 minutes" good thing we have a sense of humor :) Fair enough we are ok with waiting. Ding dong....ladies and gentlemen is there any medical personnel on board, please is there a doctor or a nurse on board. In a flash all 3 of us unbuckled our seatbelts to heed the call. Since I'm the midwife and doubt anyone is in labor we decided Seppe and Karin would go. A gentleman apparently was suffering from inexplicable abdominal pains radiating to the back....with assessment skills on point my colleagues agreed that he was suffering from kidney stones. Cabin personnel had called the medics and the gentleman was taken off the plane.  A little adrenalin eases the long wait haha if this is the tone for the trip I can't wait to see what else awaits us! After a 2 hour an 10 minutes delay we are finally on our way! Next stop: Abidjan <3
